Is Edmond Christian Montessori a preschool, a Kindergarten, a Pre-K, a home-school Co-op, or a childcare home?
On some levels we are all of those things. Technically we are considered a licensed childcare home. We get inspected every quarter by our DHS licensing specialist to ensure child safety and that our school is meeting requirements. This is why we have such a few number of spots available and why we live here. The downstairs of our home is utilized solely for the school and we live upstairs. We do hope to expand, but updating the house to commercial code is a large project. Unlike most schools, we offer a 2 day program so that home-school families can socialize their children.
What ages do you take?
We take fully potty trained three year olds up to seven year olds!
What is your tuition?
We have a two day and a four day option. Monday-Thursday 8:30-3:30 (Or M, W or T, TH). We have optional after school care Tuesday and Thursday until 5:30pm. The four day option is $750 per month and the two day option is $400 per month. After school care is $10 per day. Payment is due at the beginning of each month (August-May). More info is available under the forms tab. If you have more questions you can contact us and we will happily discuss your specific situation.
Are you a certified Montessori School?
In a word, no. We do have our Montessori teaching certificate but we are not a certified AMI school. Although it does encompass our style and overall attitude towards education, there are things that we incorporate that are not “Montessori” like animals, farming, gardening, and yoga. We also feel that no one way to teach is perfect. We also incorporate play based learning and project style learning in our day to day activities. Another reason we are not certified is because the Montessori materials, although very similar, are not the "approved" Montessori materials needed to be certified. All that being said, Dr. Montessori set the standard for education and although she didn’t trademark her teaching style, we do our best to use her style to guide your children.
Who will be teaching my Student?
We (Jered and Emily) will both will be around the children every day. Jered has a MBA in finance from Oklahoma Christian University and has worked in the oil and gas industry for the last 5 years. Before that he was a PE teacher at Keystone Adventure School and Farm and worked at a children's camp full time for 3 years. Emily has worked in childcare her whole life, and specifically has owned Shine In home preschool for the last 4 years and also worked at Keystone Adventure School and Farm through college.

We also run and manage Shine In-Home Preschool located less than a mile away. They teachers there are amazing and they share the same child centered approach that we do and use lots of the Montessori methods as well. Several of the children from Shine attend Edmond Christian Montessori when they are of age and they are given priority for enrollment at Edmond Christian Montessori.
